any ss stuff would survive just fine.

I do enjoy coating things but the real purpose is I get lots of free samples and new powders to try all the time but in powder form there isn't a way to tell what the finished product is going to be. everything under the coat effects the out come, many people have little test figures or swatches they do with a bare metal undercoat but the tint changes if say you have a gloss red anno job under it.

if you want a perfect job there is a guy on here that does it but he stripps everything to bare metal and spends hours at it.

however, that's not worth it for say a carbine that's only worth 30 bucks to start with. this is where my idea stems from.

the coatings won't be perfect and i can't guarantee what the final product will look like unless it's bare metal but it would look far better then a ragged out rusting 98c.

I can do a few examples with what bodies I have left and can show you

oh and as for threads it is possible to ruin them if the powder pools at the bottom of a piece but I prevent that with silicone plugs and high temp paint. also damp Cue tips work wonders for removing powder from small areas.

it's not going to ever be thick enough that you can't chase the threads easily though

I have a left feed cocker that's currently pink and a freak back that's green that I'd be interested in seeing what they can look like. Maybe some kind of water theme...

so on glow in the dark. yes I can infuse any powder with it but they are highly susceptible to uv damage. meaning just like most neon colors it will fade and glow far less over time. it's also expensive. about $30 for a few ounces.

lava and water can be done as a two coat setup. I'll order in some sample powders and spray a carbine body with it for an example of what it would look like sprayed over a normal black coated body

patterns are also possible as well as fades but these are also subject to what's under the powder. patterns have to be done in layers and takes a long time.

right now two stage jobs are easy, any more then that and it's pushing it with how well the powder will stick as each layer acts as an insulator. i only have a mid grade sprayer at work as we normally only do solid colors for bikes and such, it would take a more powerful charge and better ground to do more layers reliably

I would totally be interested. This sounds like a good service to offer around here.

I am local to you, and would be interested in seeing how the lava/water samples turn on.

EDIT: got some new powders on the way. going to try and get a type of water and lava coat going. a true lava contains more colors then what is possible for powder coats but I can see.

no glow in the dark fun this time around. they want to much to justify wasting it
