That game is all-encompassing. Fortunately, I've been able to resist its allure thus far. Either way, amazing post, and as others have said, welcome to MCB!

Excellent post Z-Man, nice to see you post here.

My thought has always been that a true semi electro cannot be triggered over 12-13 BPS. Not without some debounce settings, or without software, or RT type help. Original Angels, and Bushmasters didnt get over 10-11bps out of the box IMO. Everyone thought they were shooting 13bps because that what the specs said it could do. IT sounded like they were shooting 13bps, because we had not heard 13bps at that time. When you used a mag or cocker and shot 6-8 BPS, anything more than that sounded like a machine gun........

And you hit the main problem with all this talk, tourneys dont allow anything over 13.33 in PSP, and 12 in millenium, so who cares what your gun can do, as long as it can hit 13bps consistently, then its perfect for tourney use. I could see some tourney players going back to revy hoppers to get rid of some of that weight on top of their gun......

The thing is BPS is a rate. A rate can be measured over a single time interval for one series of events.

I have high speed footage of a pro player who can only shoot 8 balls in any one second long time period. He can however activate the trigger at a rate of 14bps for two shots.

I don't believe anyone can "consistently" sustain 13bps. At least no-one I've ever tested.

You know what... I might bring my high speed camera to EMR this year and we'll have a contest. We'll film everyone and see how fast they really are... and who has the cheater guns.

And regarding what you can do with physical human limitations. It is pretty clear that the limit a human can fire a marker today falls somewhere in the range of 10-16BPS. We can argue trigger setup and how much "help" you are getting but I think people would agree that somewhere in that range of 10-16 lies the upper limit of people.

That alone ends that if you want to talk about what you are ever going to see on a field if you are playing tourney rules. Anything faster is marker/electronics assisted.

It's still a bragging point though... just like buying a Hayabusa. I just don't think you bought it because you needed a bike that would drive 75 since that is about as fast as you legally can take it.

13 bps sustained isn't really difficult, well I guess it depends how long "sustained" means ... if it's a hopperfull or less, then indeed it isn't that hard.

I suppose now is a good time to re-post the link to the AO BPS contest underway currently.

Will you be at EMR? Would you like to prove how easy it is?

I'll bet you ALL the beer/alchohol you can drink for the weekend that you can't sustain 13bps for a full hopper. Your gun might... but your fingers can't...

I'm sorry but I think we may end up dissapointing a lot of people when it's really analysed and not just internet fluff.

I won't be there, however in the '05 AO BPS contest, which required an 8 second average, I pulled 13.8, I wonder how hard it would be to sustain that for a few more seconds? It was actually the loader starting to get some skips toward the end that slowed me down ... Next time I'm doing some testing, I'll try to video a full hopper.

My fingers are not particularly fast, either, I can't reliably reach over 15; I've seen some people going much faster ...

Now that is something I want to see!

Anyone have an EEG so we can see nerve pulses at the same time?
