| MCB Member | Difference between home made and factory Paint Grenades I have seen alot of issues bought up on this and just decided to do a comparison. Now we'll do the comparison using a semi smart person at each place. That way we eliminate "Well what if some kid decided to use his urine in it". So let's get that answer out of the way right now "It can happen at home or at a factory. There is always a disgruntaled employee out there regardless where you work". So now that we got the stupid people out of the way and the fan boys lets move on to the folks that would really understand this. First thing first. Unless the part is machined specifically for the grenade, it's on the open market. So the rubber bands on big boys and the caps on squad buster can be bought at many places thru out America. Now before we go any further, this is not a bashing thread, so fan boys don't get your panties in an uproar here. Just a comparison. First and for most you need a recipie. It should be non toxic. Now some of the ones I have seen fall into this catagory. Anyone with common sense should know this, however there are thos few out there that don't think that far in advance. So you have your's and the factory has theirs. Second you need good old fashion latex tubing. Which can be bought from many places on line or local stores. So this is also what factories do as well, buy in bulk. Third is your trigger system, be it washers, cotter pins, caps, BB's clamps, rubber bands, it can all be bought on the net. Fourth is zip ties. Nothing special about these, can be bought at any hardware store out there or local walmart. Only difference is to get a zip tie gun to make them really tight with adjustable tension. Pick them up on line for about $15.00 So let's do the comparison here now. We have all the stuff to make paint grenades, now what is the difference so far. HMMMM nothing I can see so far. Here's where the difference comes in. The loading device. Be it a machine or syringe, that's the total difference. However there are plans on the internet that show how to make loading machines. It's just about quality control and research investment you are willing to make. Storage time is also a big factor. How many are you going to make and will you get the vomit smell? If these are just for you, then your going to be a little lax on your fill and what not. If they are for sale, your going to want to do testing, get feed back from others that have used your stuff, so you can improve. This is what really matters how serious you want to get. Now I hear there are restrictions at the BIG games out there on which grenades you can use, who's brand and so on. That's more of a money flow issue and for guys I'm sure have the rights to these games. More of a "Keep it in the family " sort of thing. That's understandable. But when it comes down to it your are just as good if not better than their's. Meaning you built it to your specs. Back to the fill. Some would raise an issue about it and say "Well it's an approved fill" How do they know that, there aren't any fill standards that I have ever seen in my 20 yrs of playing paintball. So if someone tells you that, just whip out that bottle of P&D fill paint and go to loading, it should be an approved fill since it's the same stuff they use in their grenades. When it all really comes down to it and making your own, what it really is, is lost money to companies and less sponsorship to teams. Please add to this if I'm wrong in anything. Later, Blackrain
