Did you have that happen or just tossing around the all to easy (and really stupid by now) Smart Parts joke?

Never like the idea of replacing those VL elbows all the time, and the APP ones are the best bet for the money. Then again, I would rather have something easier to break than my gun and loader, but not so brittle it snaps by being tightened.

On that subject, whats with loader being made of plastic that would make BE proud these days?

I'd really like to know the answer to that question. I won't own a loader that I can't put into a pre be revvy shell. I can't justify spending over a $100 for something made of brittle plastic that can't stand up to chemicals that are routinely launched directly at it...

And is putting enough stress on your marker and hopper common enough that the plastic elbow is thought of as a shear pin? I don't think, even with some of my heavier hoppers, that I've ever had a worry of the elbow or feedneck breaking. The bodies of the hoppers, however, do seem to be made of some really crappy plastic these days. I've got a Halo and a Eggy 2 that both need new bodies, but if the new ones are as brittle as the old ones, what's the freakin' point? *feh* I'm just glad you can still get the old 12v Revvy's for cheap, and the Rico Apaches are still fairly affordable.

And you can slap re-loader guts into an old revvy shell.

I was at a game at a scenario field in youngstown. A player came across a bees nest, swearing he didnt shoot it, they swarmed him. He dropped his brand new SP8, the feed neck sheared off at the marker body.

How hard would you drop a gun being swarmed by bees?

Gravity would do it given enough of a distance.

I agree about the plastics being used today. Nobody seems to go for the glass reinforced composites anymore, which is just bizarre. Splatmasters have lasted 20 years without snapping in half and yet you see hoppers barely making it through one season.

To chime in:
I have actually witnessed a number(8-10) SP-8's with broken feednecks. Admittedly that is far from being what I would consider being a catastrophic failure I wouldn't consider it unheard of

My buddy Kenny (wanderlustre) swears by Armson's plastic elbows. He had one on his old Spyder for years and it never broke. Low profile too...
