New Passport Rules for Canada, Mexico

If you're thinking of flying or taking a cruise in 2007 that will include destinations in Canada, the Caribbean, or Mexico, you should plan to get a passport this fall.

Under new government regulations, by Dec. 31, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada — plus Bermuda and Panama — will be required to have a passport to enter or re-enter the United States.

A year later, on Dec. 31, 2007, the requirement will be extended to all land-based border crossings as well.

For all our Canadian friends who play @ US Fields and vice versa, don't forget to include passport costs...

Way ahead of ya bud. My team only ever uses our passports whenever crossing the border. It's not required (yet) but it's just easier.

Last time I went to the states the lazy bum at the border didn't even stamp my passport. He barely looked at it.

They were originally going to do this a couple years ago, but people complained that it was not enough warning.

This is old news, I got my passport last year because of all the talk about this. No big deal, it's a good idea to have a passport anyways.

I just got mine a few weeks ago (going to Jamaica in March) and let me tell you, it is the most expensive book I have ever purchased.

Hold on. How much does it cost to get a passport, if you don't mind me asking?

Age 16 and over: $97
Under Age 16: $82

BUT, that is not including the $15 they charge if you do not bring in your own photos and have to get one taken.
