A box and Coke can: Alternative Weapons

Long story short, I'm pretty big into scenerio ball and enjoy thinking of interesting ways of elimanating people. Mercy kills are what I'm after all the time and would rather barrel tag someone than shoot them out when playing a scenerio as they are worth points in the game.

So I came up with this one about a month ago. It's quite literally a cardboard box and a Coke can with a bit of silicon to hold it together. It's supposed to represent a camera....

I rocked this camera about a month in a cold @#$ game (-23 C for a high...) last month and managed to take out 5 people with it without even getting shot at. Everyone was a good sport about being taken out by a cardboard box and laughed about afterwards. I literally just walked right into group of people, pretending to take pictures while I was walking towards them and ask to take their pictures up close. Then I asked if they wanted to see the "picture" and then "barrel tagged" them.

Refs just laugh when the seen this happen. I gave them the heads up beforehand.

Anyone else make some interesting weapons like this?

That was great

My favorite was turning my hopper & eyes off and dry firing. About 5 people thought I was out of ammo and rush me. Then I would turn everything back on and tag them.

Never saw the end result..

But I was passing out fake medic cards to the russians at Stalingrad

They said " GOOD FOR ONE KILL " or something to that effect.

I can see how this could be funny.

But, please, don't take this as raining on your parade, or trying to spoil your fun, but at the scenarios I help put together (link in sig if you are interested in the legitimacy), this would NOT be happening. We purposely mention that there will be photographers on the field, DO NOT SHOOT THEM, they will shoot you. With film. This tactic takes advantage of that trust. Is it hard to see how people could make the jump to shooting all camera men because they got taken out by a fake one?

All I'm saying, is be careful and clear this with the producer first. You are really taking advantage of a bond of trust between players and camera men, and as a camera man, I would be VERY upset if people started taking shots at me and my expensive camera because YOU were pulling this trick.

I would agree.
That is not much more different then a "Dead Man Walk", as you are purposely tricking people into thinking you are not in the game.

While faking you are out of paint, or air? Thats perfectly fine. I used to do the trick where I would lift my THUMB up so the cocking knob could not reset, and let it SOUND like I was out of air. I might swear, and curse to add to the effect.

Very creative, but I'm afraid I'd be pretty pissed if someone barrel tagged me with a camera. If you use it to get close and then paint-knife me or tag me with a pistol, then shame on me and kudos to you. If you get close and poke me with a camera, that's sorta exploiting the "this is a game" instead of "this is a simulation/scenario" atmosphere. How do you eliminate someone with a camera and no weapon?? Not to mention as soon as someone in the dead zone says "yeah some guy with a fake camera tagged me out" real photogs, refs, etc are going to start getting shot out of paranoia...

With the posts recently about deception and sneaky ways to get points at scenarios, I'm getting to the point where my personal rules for scenarios are going to be:
1) shoot EVERYONE and ask questions later
2) see 1

wouldn't generaly fly at big games that I attend rules specify 8" barrel or full gun (so pistols are ok) walking up to a player and say barrel tag without a barrel would get you shot or barrel taged in return, and a possible warning from the judge that you not following rules. I would assume though the game you were playing didn't follow the general scenario rules or the game director made an exception.

Now Damage Inc's Knife kills are pretty cool though.

Clever, I like it. Like others have said though, it is taking advantage of other players and cameramen. I still won't shoot at them though. What will I do if a cameraman wants to take my picture...
"Hey, can I take your picture, I work for __________(misc paintball rag)
"AHHH, run away before he barrel tags you!"

I agree with Jackson.
You are not being deceptive here. You are taking advantage of players trust not to shoot staff and nonplayers (cameramen).
Actually a really good question is what are you wearing when you do this. Most of the places I go the camera people wear brightly colored usually orange vests to denote that they are not players. Are you wearing this?
What are you using to barrel tag them? Is it just a barrel, most places around the northeast won't allow that, it has to be on a gun. And if it is on a gun it can not have the barrel blocking device on it or you are considered out.
