Here's one from KEE

Now does this look like the air travels through the trigger guard?

Is this away to work around the gas thru-grip?

Title: SELF-REGULATING VALVE ASSEMBLY

Abstract:
A self-regulating valve assembly for a compressed gas gun includes a valve housing and a valve body disposed within the valve housing. The rearward end of the valve body defined an outlet port. The forward end of the valve body defines a gas balance reservoir open to and in communication with the breech of the gun. A valve gas passage is provided between the valve body and the valve housing, the valve gas passage providing communication between the outlet port of the valve body and the gas balance reservoir of the valve body. A slideable valve poppet is disposed within the valve body and includes a sensing end adjacent to and at least partially within the gas balance reservoir, the sensing end having a sensing face adapted to react to gas pressure within the gas balance reservoir. The valve poppet is slideable between a closed position and an open position. A valve spring within the valve body biases the valve poppet toward the closed position. Pressure in the gas balance reservoir exerts a force on the sensing face to urge the valve poppet toward the closed position.

thats a patent on the PCP system. i dont really see that as protecting them against SP, just protecting the PCP system, which, they bought from the guys that make the king cobra, so seems legit to me.

EDIT ... hummm, apon a closer look, thats not the mini, thats more like a marq/mummy/oynx type deal ...

Still looks like a airway in the trigger guard to me....This is the only drawing I can find...would be nice to see the lower grip area....

With a semi-balanced valve like that, I wonder why they don't have air flow through the poppet to the front like a nelson valve poppet instead of around the whole valve.

I had that idea a while ago for a carbine valve...
Basically that layout is a bastard child of a Prolite and carbine, with a 'balanced' valve.
But the whole idea behind the CVX was that it's Self regulating (Which ironically, Seems to work really well)

Only improvment I'd see there would be that the valve opens easy, But that just compounds problems with inconsistancy arising from erratic friction due to manufacturing defects.
So, upside, Valve opens easy, Which means you can run high pressures, with low hammer spring tension, Thus high efficiency and no chops.
Downside, You HAVE to run it dual regulated, And have tolerances Very tight and smoooth.
I mean, great for a high end Blowback on a tippmann valve layout, Or even fine for an Electropneumatic, but why bother when there are better ways to do it?

aw buggrit, I'll contact this machinist I know and have a cupseal/end cap machined for my carbine, and see if it makes a difference.

You are right. That is an A5 (or BT) right down to the valve design, linkage, and trigger mechanism.

Thats how the Montneels worked. Tippmanns used the "around the valve" method because it was far easier, and cheaper to mass produce.

So KEE has patented the inline version of the Kingman VS2?

It seems that paintball is heading towards trying to standardize the use of semi and full-floating poppet valves. While they will make claims of "Low Pressure blah...blah", I think the truth is this: The floating poppets allow the gun to use a lower pressure, and that means they can use CHEAPER, and WEAKER parts. More plastics, More pot metals. Less finishing. Less labor.

Probally because the industry is buzzing about the new BT line of guns that are going to be mil-sim in design but purely a high end mech/electro inside..

No more sear clickers... Ive heard tell of them being minis in mil-sim style garb....

All I have to say about that is its all well and good but where the hell is my reliable not overly complex magazine fed gun!!!! And dont say ATS because those are headaches to me.
