Well, maybe a bad thing...

I used the works toilet cleaner, folloewd by extensive soapy water, followed by hair drier.

It worked well..

A little discoloartion on the end of the barrel, and still some black crap on the feedneck area, but it looks much better. Ill sand the rest i supose.

Yes, it is. That's what I used for all my sheridans and it is very dangerous. Even with chemical resistant double thick gloves, a long sleeve shirt, and a resperator, my hands burned and turned red after every job. The fumes go right through gloves and burn your hands.

Citrastrip not only works well, it is biodegradable and cleans up with water. Wear gloves and don't get any on you as it , well burns the skin. It also works well for stripping any wooden stocks, since it's intended use is for refinishing woodwork. Citrastip is orangebased so it even smells good kind of like Orange Curracco.

I've used kleen-strip multiple times and never had any trouble at all. The only gloves I've used were just latex surgical gloves. I've never experienced any of these horrors that you guys are mentioning. I"m begenning to believe that I'm part rhino or something...

Just use brasso, plain and simple. The black stuff is just brass that has been blackened
