| I use JT slider shorts (removable foam cup) and when I wear my proto pants, I get extra protection from its crotch padding. But I don't really worry about it and would play with or without the cup. I've been hit in the head once and it hurt like a mo ... but it's only happened once in 18 years of off-and-on play. Knock on wood ...

| Been shot there 4 times now with countless very close calls (two or three close ones this weekend, two happy-parts shots the weekend before) Still prefer standard cargo shorts and boxers.

| and to think, someone made a thread about whether it is worth it to use paintball specific clothing. The only time I ever took a shot to the family jewels, it happened to be from 2 inches away. Luckily at that time I recently decided to wear slider shorts with a padded cup. You are simply foolish for not doing so. Playing without some sort of protection for genitalia is about as smart as going to a whorehouse in Tijuana without using protection. Although I have only been hit in that region only once, I have shot countless amounts of people in the junk, and usually its more than one shot. I think that when I am kneeling and shooting, my stream of paint is about at the perfect height for that kind of mishap to occur.

Cups and jocks cost $7. Why not make all your paintball stories good ones instead of repeatedly telling the story of why you only have one nut?

| In 20 years, I've never worn a cup, and can not remember ever getting shot there. Reading above about all the painful hits, I wonder if the TYPE of paintball has something to do with where you are likely to get hit. For example- I never play speedball, only woodsball and/or scenerios. It seems to me that in speedball, you are far more likely to get shot in the jewels for the simple reason that many of the "hits" occur during bunkering, which is when someone runs up to someone who is kneeling. The kneeling player has is holding his gun at... well.. waist level. OTOH, with woodsball, hits usually occur at a distance, and are usually head, or upper body hits. Cover is trees, so no need to kneel.

| I picked up a pair of jt slider shorts and a pair of empire ground pounders. I wear the jt slider shorts when I ref, as I felt a little bare down there without 'em ! I wear the ground pounders when I play, as they go down to my calves, and have padded knees. Prior to that, it was a cup and thick, 'make my legs hurt' proto knee pads. I have worn protection from day one, and suffered groin hits in ALL types of play, with NO injuries. Unlike the poor guy who came up to me on Sunday and asked for ice, as his sack was bleeding from a nutshot. He sat one game and played the rest of the day. OUCH !!! BTW, sizing on the slider shorts and ground pounders is the same as your undies. L=L, XL=XL, etc... lonegunmen
