I agree with you HP.in 20+ years of play I have only taken one hit to the groin. The few times I play speedbal it is with pumps so overshooting is not an issue.

I don't wear anything more than underwear (boxer briefs, thank you very much) and either BDU pants or JT pants. I've caught a couple, and while it didn't tickle, it wasn't earth-shattering. Now, when I beat people with sticks, I wear a Nutty Buddy - something about someone swinging a chunk of rattan around and possibly at my boys. I highly recommend them, if you're looking for groin protection.

Slider shorts + cup. I've never taken a "direct hit", but close enough for me to invest in the protection

Only time I took a direct hit it was in a scenario game on the long ball. I was wearing a hard plastic athletic cup. Thank God for that! You know how bounces hurt worse than breaks? This one BOUNCED off the hard plastic beneath my pants (the paint was winter grade b/c it was Phoenix in Febuary: 70's - 80's in the day.... low 40's at night, and no good climate-controlled place for the paint).....imagine if that had decided to hit full force on my cloth-only-covered jewels! I was getting peppered at long range and called out anyway. Next ball to hit, though, grazed my mask and broke (I HATED the paint that game).

Never gotten hit in the genetalia in speedball. A buddy of mine took it to the crotch once in speedball, though. He was able to walk and speak so I knew he took a hit to the snake and not the boys. Still wasn't pleasant (I've been hit there too).

I wear slider shorts now with a foam insert. With my scp pants that spread out like a tarp when I slide down to kneeling, I'm pretty well protected.

Athletic cup. My frank and beans are securely packaged in an appropriate can. Playing sports without a cup on is never a good idea. I wear my seat belt even though I've never been in bad car wreck.

Getting shot isn't the only reason to wear groin protection. Remember, anytime you're running/jumping/crawling you can slip and fall on something hard or pointy (ESPECIALLY in the woods). I'd rather not bash my junk on a rock, or skewer it on a branch.

The baggy on my chino's acts like a trampline and bounces off the paint, been shot near that area many a time but never had contact due to the baggyness of my pants. If I'm worried a towel suffices as additional protection.

I've taken a direct hit to the left one before, and numerous non-direct hits. Yet I still go 'unprotected'
Worse has happened to my junk. PM me if you want to know.

I usually have a balled up sock down there at any given time. Don't really see a reason to take it out when I play.

I cut up and old knee pad and use it as a cup. Not nearly as uncomfortable as the hard plastic ones. Plus its bouncy
