I've officially washed my hands of airsoft.
Wow. I never realized something like that had a dress code! (Safety equiptment I don't consider a dress code.)
Wouldn't it be cool to do a classic James Bond type Airsoft thing and play in a tux or something against guys dressed up like the Russians?

No, it wouldn't. That doesn't happen in real life. Thus CANNOT EVER happen in airsoft NO EXCEPTIONS...

I think I may go airosfting again one of these days with a springer. I'll bring an "Airsoft is Fun!" attitude with me. Maybe I can start a revolution!

I was automatically a part of every "Opfor" or terrorist team whenever I played as I was never outfitted with the appropriate camo or gear (my airsoft gat of choice was a TM Thompson SMG) to join the "U.S." or home team.

As I think about it, I mostly tend to dress (for paintball or airsoft) very much like those guys you see marching through Lebanon with the RPG's on their shoulders and the table clothes wrapped around their heads and faces; camo pants and whatever t-shirt they threw on when they got out of bed.

Hmm...so if we get a guy to wear a tux and actually get him to kill 1960's ish uniformed Soviets...

I know of serveral airsofters in the region through a friend that works with them. They had to buy matching BDU's and read the Army Ranger Field Manual. Then they had to take a test on the manual.

And know things that had nothing to do with playing airsoft.

You guys have it all wrong. Airsoft is not played to replace paintball, you play it in the house when it is too wet or cold to play paintball. If **** gets broken, it's probably HER **** and not very important anyhow.

I try to be open-minded about other peoples' definition of "fun", but sheesh.

One benefit of this exclusivity (I hear) is that players tend to be honorable (i.e. no "playing on" after getting hit) because they won't get invited back if they're caught cheating. So the cheaters all play paintball...

I'd still like to give Airsoft a try sometime, but with a less-serious group, since the military flavor has some appeal.

On one of my trips to Japan, I bought an airsoft pistol, on an impulse buy. I shot it a few times in my backyard, but when the rabbits that were raiding my garden did not even take notice that I had shot shot them, I decided to sell it. I think it could be fun as long as you don't take it too seriously, but the same rule also goes for paintball.

Like anyone is going to feel a plastic BB hit when they're wearing fifteen pounds of crap strapped to their chest.
