You could put up some no trespassing signs, then rig up spike strips along all the possible entrances. Also, put up cameras at said entrances. You can get cameras relatively cheaply now too. O, yea, and be sure to have the area well lit, that will also discourage them.

Now, I'm not sure if you can do this in Canada, but would you be able to request that the local police dept. routinely patrol the area of your field every1-2 hours?

Paperclip,it becomes an issue for many reasons.

Example:

In the state of NH, I can enter your house with ill intent, planning to kill you, your wife, and kids in your sleep, have an assault rifle IN HAND, but if I trip and break my leg, I can sue you/house owner

That theroy works until I hear you screaming in pain, and come out and finish you off (I'm from the West, we shoot things with broken legs )

Yeah, in all seriousness though, even if they are breaking the law, they still have reasonable expectiontation of safety while they are molesting you.

Catchya on the Flip Side.....

I know this from what my dad told me when he had people going onto his land.

The police, said that he had to call them and tell them when they were trespassing. Then they would have to catch them doing so, in order to do anything.

He wanted to spike the road, but they said that the people could charge him for vandalism.. Yea its retarted.

So jack he could do other then put a gate up. It really pissed him off when someone cut down a huge oak tree. (I think he figured out, as lumber would have been 400-500 dollars alone)

So yea it sucks.... in Canada there is really jack **** you can do about it without catching them in the act. I would put a mask on beat, the hell out of them. Then again thats me.

Try all legal actions first... since the last idea can really get you jailed.

As for my suggestion, Pay a hick to guard the place with his shotgun!
Nah, but seriously, I like the camera and spike strip idea the best so far.. its legal and will not result in anyone getting hurt or sued.

My opinion: Park your car a block or so away, walk to the field, and wait on the land with loaded shotgun in hand.

Next time they come, make with the appropriate yelling and a warning shot.

Into the side of their vehicle, if you're willing.

The spike strip is not legal..

Then again, if they drive in.... and the spike strip disapears.

Well...
