We have had 'visitors' at our place many times...over $29,000 in damages!!!
(It is only by God's will that we are still in business...another topic)

Starting in October, I invited 2 homeless people to live on the land (they have a truck they live in.)
They keep the place 'clean' in exchange for a place to lay their heads at night and NOT get harrassed by the cops.
Equipped w/ toilet/water/tables/benches/covered awnings.

I got the idea from Pop Warner Little League...they do the exact same thing for their field where I live, FOR YEARS!!! Everyone is happy. He is now a fixture there. Recycles the cans and picks up the trash. Good deal.

I will let you know how it goes.

Eh? That's some crazy way of logic...

Guess I better clean up the mess in my room than just incase a burgular enters and trips over some of the junk on the floor.

Personally, if I had a PB field and access to spike strips, I'd lay them on the access roads in a way that you'd have to pass several highly visible "no tresspassing" signs before you hit the strips. I'd take my chances against the "vandals" in court if they chose to expose themselves by filing a claim.

Spike strips are usually not legal for the above stated reasons... in this case I'm sure they would be frowned upon because it is government land, and they will want access to the land at all times.. Also it would be a permanent modification to the road, which is probably not allowed.

As to spike chains or other temp systems.... these can be very dangerous and are a serious liability for those deploying them.... which is why you only see them in the hands of cops (and only those with proper training). Not only can you flatten tires, but you can cause serious injury due to a crash (or even death)... while these people are seriously chuckle heads of the highest order... I don't think you want their deaths on you for something like this.

Wouldn't a heavy duty chain "rope" pose a similar risk of chucklehead injury?

The application of spike strip that I had in mind was the dirt road leading to my home field. That road is so rocky and dippy, you'd probably fatten your tires if you drove faster than 10mph on it anyway.

I'd consider myself a law abiding citizen, but if I thought that there was a reasonable risk to my property, I'd get pretty inventive with my solution.

The old Ewok swinging tree trunk worked in Star Wars, right?

Oh I hear you... and if it was actually property owned by me I would do what I could.... the problem here, so it seems, is that they are on public access land owned by the government. Kind of like how people in PA go out and 4 wheel on land that they help maintain.. land owned by the state. You can't guard it with a gun or put up fences (or At-At mashing pendulum logs ) but you can use the land... the problem is the other a-holes who like to use the land in their own way.

No doubt they are bastards... they just have to be dealt with in a manner that is appropriate.. and legal.... Don't you guys have the Mounties.... sick them on these jerks!

Wow! 3 pages, I guess this is not an isolated event.

If the land was not rented, the response would be more severe: i.e. fences, do not trespass signs, a log accross the road etc....

We are pretty much helpless otherwise. Next weekend, we have a group of Police playing (no, not mounties, lol) One of them is a friend, and I will consult him re: our options that are within the law, and that might work.

Thanks guys for letting me vent on this one, and for your understanding of how it feels. ------>

In the past year there has been 2 fires started at my home field just days before a big game. It's sickening that there are people that would do this kind of stuff, especially in the paintball community.
