| None. If you can see it, you can shoot it. The one time I was sore about getting shot through a hole, I went and patched it up between games(you couldn't see the hole, as it was hidden by grass). Some people make field rules about it. I think that's an asinine thing to do, but rules are rules. I personally think it would be very difficult to tell if you'd been hit through a crack or hole. The other issue is that such a rule prevents any risk or penalty for looking through such cracks and holes. |

| Pump Gun Dealer | Do you mean shooting through cracks in a bunker ? If so, it's mostly because it's a case of blind firing where the shooter can't clearly see what he's shooting at. Also, it's fairly cheap in that the people being fired upon have almost no way to hit the shooter back. Most fields also don't like it since it wrecks the bunkers and potentially the barrels of their rental markers depending on the material the bunker is made of. All in all, it's just a bad thing. |

Why would it wreck a bunker any more than shooting at the edge of the bunker where a player pokes his head out? Why would it damage a marker's barrel? why would it be cheap? If I catch someone looking the other way and put one into his back, he also cannot shoot back at me. Presenting the target less of a shot than the shot you have is the essence of good play. That's not cheap, that's smart.

Overall it much easier for fields just to disallow it all together.

| Meh. Some fields disallow, most out here don't. After many years in the sport, I firmly believe that if you can see the target and see where you're 'gun's shooting, it's not blind firing...and therefore okay. Fields should be very clear on the rules and should brief each exception in this case. In a similar vein, how about paintball arcing / longball artillery? I've yet to see a field disallow shooting over intervening obstacles if the target is on the field. |

| The only issue I have ever had with the "rule" is when it is and isn't allowed. I play on a good number of different fields and the rules are always different. I either get in trouble, or eliminated by someone shooting through a knot hole. I wish there was a standard accepted base set of rules everyone plays by.

2. & 3. Then why not ban cramming the barrel into things? Why eliminate the *shooting* through cracks? 4. I am talking about just that. If you catch a guy looking the other way, he also cannot shoot you back. What's bad about that?
