The a1 format is so beautiful. The things are so perfectly sized and the board is so excellent.

I just wish they used some traditional ball detents or something, though from what I hear the new ones work..

Makes me wonder about that valve - magnets instead of springs. Coudl you use that in a cocker valve?

You could use it anywhere that you have lateral stabilization. The issue is that unlike a spring, magnets do not have a linear force profile. A spring, within its elastic range, will have a set force per unit distance of compression. 25 lb/in, for example. Magnets, on the other hand, repel at exponentially greater forces the closer they are.

In a cocker valve, it would really mess with the effect of the IVG. I wouldn't want to try it unregged. Plus, if someone were unscrupulus enough, they could stick a strip of raw iron in the fingertip of their left glove. Press the raw iron up against the side of the valve chamber to provide a flux sink and you've suddenly decreased the repulsion force of the magnets - thus decreasing the closing force of the valve and increasing the velocity perhaps significantly.

Gives a whole new meaning to "thumbing" the valve, eh?

EDIT: Mu-metal tipped cheater gloves, anyone?
