Amen! Kids are SUPPOSED to get hurt! It teaches life lessons like "watch your ***" and "don't do stupid things". This society seems to want to shield children from every possible form of harm. We're going to get to the point where kids aren't going to be allowed to ride busses because the bus could hit a bump and lil johnny could hurt his butt on the seat belt buckle! "here, sign this waiver so that your child can play kickball." Are schools going to start requiring full protective equipment for gym class?

You sir a bad parent. No child should have to go through the horror of skinning his poor little knee, that is borderline abuse. I mean, we would not want your child to grow up with an understanding of danger and a respect for the world around him, now would we? I hope that you use child leashes too, can't have them wandering more than 5 ft away from you. Sheesh...

Each generation needs to be protected more and more by the government that way the following generation will look to the government for more and more protection and guidence. This is how government wants it.

So true.

I am not a parent, but plan on having at least one child someday. What will it be like then? Lock the kid in a padded room for the day lest he/she get hurt??? Geesh.

We (roommates and I) were just talking about that last night.. so horrible.

but so stinking funny!

Ugh.. parenting skills just don't exist like they used to.. I've got a few years yet before I start having kids.. but they're being raised the old fashioned way.. I'm dead set on that.

Lo

I was raised the old school way. Respect for rules, consequences for your actions, the threat of physical punishment. It gets the friggen job done. My father used to get it worse when he was a kid back in the 50's. My Grandmother used to hit him and his sisters with the metal wire handle of a fly swatter. And Grandpa used to use his belt.

My dad only threatened spankings. I think I only really got punished one time. The rest of the times were just warning slaps. That was all I needed. lol

I was raised old school. You messed up, you got beat. Plain and simple. Did I like it, definitely not but it kept me on the straight and narrow, most of the time . You definitely didn't pull some of the stuff kids get away with nowadays, you wouldn't sit for a month!

Roger. When I have kids, they're going to get beat. Not because I'm some sadist *******, but because I was punished when I did wrong, and held accountable for what I did. The way I figure, I turned out okay. So will they, I imagine.

I have a feeling the fear of doing wrong that was ingrained in me by my parents through punishment is the reason I'm going into law enforcement lol
