Almost quit the game today..

Well, thing's are difficult for the game around here.. I've taken countless hours of my time to build and maintain a nice feild, (multiple actually..) bought 2 co2 tank's and a fill station, bought an hpa tank and a fill station, bought a chrono.. bought alot of paint.. mow, and patch, and assemble the feild.. etc, all on the word that my friends would be into playing every once in a while..

I had a game a while back, and like 8 out of the 15 people I called showed which was cool, everything went well.. then I tried for another.. 2 out of 15 people showed.. I talked to them all like way before hand making sure they could come, and reschedueled.. again, 2 people came.. one of which was my brother.. (lives with me..) again, same thing happened today, my "good friend" whom promised he could make it flaked, and I ended up canceling again..
and I'm still stuck with 5 cases of paint, 250bucks into fill stations and chrono, and a good 100hrs into the feild..

so I figure this next game, I'm selling all the paint... and the chrono.. and the fill stations, and making the commute out to Albany.. (roughly and hour drive) to play with who ever will join me..

Only thing is I have to get like 6 people together to go there too.. so I'm still screwed!!

so yeah, I'm really dissapointed in how its working out for me right now, and am seriously contemplating pawning all my gear.. and moving becoming a hermit fly fisherman..

That is really too bad man

It's kinda strange about this kinda things, maybe have people pay some in advance or have some kinda collateral so they always come

doesn't sound like a problem with the game. No need to quit that. Instead consider why your friends are being flakes. That would perturb me . . . immensely.

Thats part of the reason I started doing scenarios / big games.
No having to create a group, I only get to play a few times a year anyhow (2 this year) and there are always plenty of players at them....
Dont give it up until you have hit a big game...something to think about also, you could always sell of that fill station on here...probably get more than the local Pawn will give you...The Tanks are a different story (shipping).

If you weren't so far away I'd consider going out but it's just not feasible for me. Too bad it didn't work out as planed .

I've looked into this before. I'm gonna say now: starting a field is one of the best ways to ruin your passion for the sport. The odds that it's successful are overwhelmingly small, you personally will hardly get to play, it will take a long time to break even, insurance will kill you, etc. It's bad.

I just play to have fun. I don't commit myself to it. But that's just a personal standpoint.

I normally just play walk on. You get to know the regulars and people who DON'T flake.

I know the feeling, having been the primary organizer for our renegade outings for years (and thus by default, the one with the most gear). Flaky friends are the worst, I can't imagine if I had actually put a field together. I gave up planning and just play walk on most weekends. If anyone wants to play renegade, i make them plan lol

You need to find some actual customers maybe ... perhaps do some mild advertising.

i live in Medford Oregon and would love to grab some buds from down here and come up sometime this summer. Are we about 3 hours or so south of u? Dude last time we did what did we pulled low twentys. Out of that I can for sure get three car loads of people and gear. We would have to know in a few weeks in advance but it can happen. Is it Wood, speed, pump, stockclass? sounds fun man!

An hour drive isn't all that bad - sell the stuff - buy a gas card.
