I saw that one picture again now I have doubts

Alright over the past few months I have been getting really (understatement I think about it all the time) excited about getting rid of my A-5 and getting a phantom. Then, it happened...I saw the picture which made me fall in love with all things AKA,merlin and OC pumps (maybe even paintball as a start, one of the first pictures of a marker I ever saw).

Here is the offending picture (
5th post down): Swirl Featherlight Merlin interest - PbNation

Its so..beautiful, I just really like the simple not flashy milling. But it would look better with a nicer feedneck, mini-ed, DW fibur barrel, a CCM mini pump kit with carbon fiber handle and a CCM 86 frame with A/T and UTB (universal t-board) so I can use an MQ2.

Now I'm back to square one!

Phantom or sniper 2. AHH!

I'm going to drive myself insane one day...

/crazy, exhaustion driven rant.

Thanks,

Arpie

Just get an S6. You would be further ahead.

My best suggestion is to try out both and see what you like better. If you are coming to PPV at EMR, I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to loan you there's to try out.

I don't think that is an option. If I remember correctly, he resides in Malaysia.

Get the Phantom... we all know Nelsons are better anyways... *runs away*

Yes no oppurtunities to try anything apart from the dreaded shocker, vibe, ion and those 'things' made by SP down here. Ugh, I just dunno. I don't really want an S6 because I want to build it myself and tinker. Do you think I should buy a phantom new or used? I'm in the market for a VSC or dropout micro phantom, are used phantoms better since they're broken in with all the ben fits that entails (better efficiency, smoother pump stroke etc). Help me out here I'm really stuck.

Thanks,

Arpie

I don't see how you can "tinker" with a Phantom. Other than polishing up internals and maybe bobbing the valve there isn't a whole lot to do with a simple machine.

If you want to tinker then build a sniper. Personally, save yourself the headache and just buy a S6.

If you can get a Phantom that has been taken care of, there is certainly nothing wrong with getting a used one. You will save a little money and more than likely it will be broken in some. Breaking in a Phantom is not that big of a deal though. They certainly work well when new. The pump stroke is just a bit stiffer, but certainly not unplayable. You'll get used to it quick enough and it will get easier over time without you really even noticing it. After about a case, it will be decent (but will keep getting better for a while yet after that). So new, or used (if not beat up) are both good.

Just get both and sell the one you like the least. Or keep them both. You can never have too many guns.

Tinker away! You can always find someone to help you if you run into problems.

I think I'll buy a phantom now, just a little cheaper and less to go wrong in my obscure part of the world.

Now the only question is what type of phantom?

Its either VSC or dropout, I want to run 12 grams but maybe the novelty will wear off after a while and force me to buy a 3.5oz.

Do you guys actually use your ghost rings? Should I just buy one without (saves $15) and practice on my muscle memory?

Is the CCM 86 frame worth the extra $45 (less if I choose to exchange it for the current 45/M16 frame)?

I'll add more question when I think of them.
