Armchair Commandos - TV Show

So, SpecOps is making a reality-based TV show. I'd actually watch this!

Quote:
Armchair Commandos is a new reality-based scenario paintball TV show. Each episode features two naturally opposing forces that will compete for a cash prize. The members of the winning team will then donate the prize to a charity of their choice. Some examples of opposing forces may include: cops vs. skaters, bull riders vs. p.e.t.a, or even doctors vs. malpractice attorneys.

The stage for this competition will be the scenario paintball field. These scenarios will range from the wildest childhood imaginations to the re-enactment of famous military battles. With clever team selections and complex, creative scenarios, each episode will keep viewers riveted in their seats with a potent cocktail of intriguing conflict, imagination, and stunning visuals. Players and non-players alike will love this show!

Are they going to shoot this at regular scenarios? As someone who often takes command roles I would have a problem with that, as it would become disruptive for two whole teams to have cameramen following them around and whole different objectives than the rest of the field.

Who's we? You and the mouse in your pocket?

I love scenario games that incorporate "military aspects".
I watch very little TV, but if I happen to catch this, I'll probably watch and enjoy it.

I would have to agree with you. Only becuase I dont think the public is educated to the point yet that Paintball is not people emulating war, it can be, but its not. Quite frankly SpecOPs only has there own interest in mind, not that of the sport.

Eh, speedball is a very artificial concept for the general public to understand, and I highly doubt that anything other than this format would take off outside of the paintball community. The way I understand it, this show's treatment of "military engagements" will be very tongue-in-cheek.

I lament the waning of paintball's military roots. I have no beef with speedballers and the motocross-like jerseys although it's not for me. I'd rather paintball didn't become "big business" anyway. The only reason the industry turned towards speedball was purely for better sales. Why shouldn't Special Ops Paintball due the same to enhance its business model?!

What everybody is forgetting is that "filming" paintball is a pain in the *** and very rarely comes across on the small screen well as you can't track the balls.

I have a feeling that this will cost more in production to get everything right and viewable than what they will make off it... meaning it won't go anywhere.
