Novel Cover/bunker idea.

So I was standing around in line at Ocean state job lot up here and there were some pop open umbrellas in the impulse buy section for $5. A thought struck, and I picked one up.
The idea is this: Carry it in your pod pack, and toss it down ahead of you, after hitting the release. Pops up, and you can use it as a laydown bunker where there aren't any.
There may be a few other applications, I'm sure.
What are your ideas on the matter?

Well, at work we've been putting christmas decorations in the catalog. Imagine a crapload of those multi-colored pre-lit trees in an aircraft hanger. No other light than the trees, and lights on other bunkers.

10 elves, they're wearing christmas hats on their head and they aren't eliminated until those hats are shot off, and thirty to forty attackers raiding their little 'santa's village' in the center of the field.

That sounds like one of the potentially most awesome games ever.

That's what my friend josh said when I suggested the idea. He said we should use a titleist umbrella. To hide Volkswagens behind.

Chances of the balls ripping right through the umbrella material? What is it nylon or polyeurathane (sp) or something?

The way I see it is if you're carrying something portable, like a shield, or even pick up an existing barricade / bunker, while you're holding it it's part of your body and if it gets hit, you're out. I know a few fields that have the same basic rules...so if you got hit while deploying the umbrella you would be out.

Still, I really like the idea of a portable personal bunker. Camo would be sweet. I'm sure I could find one in a hunting catalog.

The more I think about it the more I like your idea. Portable bunkers. Far out.

I was talking to my friend about it and he came up with an idea using t-shirt mortars to deploy bunkers from farther away. Between that and umbrella bunkers you could have a field that wasn't so static and you could deploy bunkers as needed for a tactical advantage.
