Any Potato Gunners Out There?

I pretty much started paintballing after getting into making my own guns. It started with a stupid little piezoelectric sparker and hairspray, and the next year I built a pneumatic monster with coaxial piston valve made of rubber and hot glue. Then, I put a 3/4" CPVC barrel on one of my cannons, and started to shoot paintballs.

From then on I've been really interested in custom jobs, but unfortunately have never had access to any machine equipment. But PVC was always affordable and fun to mess around with.

Anyone ever get into making their own cannons? We've all probably done the spray-and-pray hairspray cannon, but these things can get complicated. I once planned to make a "hybrid" cannon (a mixture of about 4% propane ignites in normal air pressure, so we double or triple the propane and the air pressure) but never really got it off the ground.

I used to basically live at spudfiles.com, which was really helpful. Anyone enjoy this sort of thing?

Never did the spray and pray but my first cannon was used for paintball that also fired spuds and other things using 600PSI. Now the cannons I use are more 800+ PSI.

Occasionally I toy with low pressure 110PSI cannons.

I too was on Spudfiles for some time.

Made my first one to be a paintball shotgun, but nobody would let me use it on the field because they didn't want to get hit with the potato / wad. I never found a better substitute than a potato.

I remember seeing plans for a 6 shot spud gun in the back of a "Guns and Ammo" years ago, but I never shelled out the $20 for the plans. sigh.

I've built a few co2 based and LP / air based. Most were grossly overpowered or a little too "DIY" for paintball use. I've done some other air powered projects like a "rocket launcher" using a pneumatic converted solenoid valve. Kids love that one. Here it is before I converted the valve to fully pneumatic.

I have built them and run them off a scuba tank.

I have built a couple. Ran them off propane instead of hairspray. No gummy buildup.
