I'm not into airsoft, but I think it's pretty cool that they've made it out of metal. A wise choice, IMO.

I dont think it was a japanese company...

If I remember correctly it was basically some huge company which had nothing to do with paintball. I think it was a set of CEO's from some huge stock firm.

Yeah, I believe it was some multi-billion dollar company.

True, but though the m16 was made of plastic and felt too light, and it looked kind of bare bones and wiry, I don't think anyone would have questioned that it was a gun. The mx-8 looks like some kid of flash gordon gun, and IMO is kind of bulky. Another coulple cents anyhow.

If I was in the military and someone handed me one of those I'd wonder if we were being attacked from outerspace by bugs.

Actually in realiity, if I were handed one of those I'd probably ask for the aditional rocket launcher attachment thingy. I saw a poster for the real XM-8 that showed the grenade launcher atachment and it looked pretty neat.

Yes, Summit Partners, a 5.5billion dollar investment firm basically. They see the little market we have and the money it was banking on. Decided they wanted a piece.

And Tippmann is not making airsoft guns. They are putting airsoft guns in a Tippmann box Just marketing strategy combined with cost-effective business sense. Boatload easier and cheaper to just label it your own than start a factory and design equipment from scratch.

All tippman is doing is slapping their logo on a already distributed product... they aren't making their own Airsoft guns. from what I hear.. they aren't even upper echelon guns. I've heard these are from the same manufacturer as the guns you can pick up at the local Walmart/k-mart stores.
