Mask Foam

I see a lot of mouse pads that I believe are fabric coated neoprene. I'm thinking of going to the local Michaels craft store and picking up some adhesive backed velcro and a couple of mouse pads I can cut up into strips. 1 piece would be attached to the neoprene and the other to the mask I figure I can make some replaceable mask cushions that are comfortable. Not sure if it's practical but it should me busy for awhile.

Hopefully I can find a field/store that has one locally. I used to wear a fullface respirator nearly all day at work, so it might not be a factor, but if it's REAL stiff, that could hurt.

I remember posting that somewhere a while back, probably was me...

My local field owner bought up HUNDREDS of sets of the JT WETEX replacement foam for JT masks. He literally cleaned out most, if not all, of the old stock. I bought some from him not too long back and I suppose he still has mountains of it. I hope so because I could use another set!

I took all my old glued foam out and glued strips of the "hook" side of Velcro around the perimeter of my mask frame. You can easily pull out the foam and put new in.

Here is his website with contact info...

Cool

Maybe buy a cheap JT spectra/flex lens frame and cut the new foam off and reglue it to your old frame? I see the new older 01-04 frames going for 10 bucks all the time. I have a few kicking around if you need one.

I use bike helmet replacement foam. Also, I've used open cell foam packaging material, it was exactly the same stuff that was in my Flex 7. Just apply with a glue gun and it stays on great.

This thread may have been started waaaay back in 2006. But, I just wanted to say that it saved me from having to buy two new masks. The foam in my old JT Proflex and in my original pre-Kingman Raven had disintegrated over nearly a decade of neglect in my attic. A nice, thick mouse pad I had lying around, a pair of scissors, and a hot glue gun was the ideal solution to my problem.
