They were stored in the MCB gallery and it's toast.

Should have looked at this sooner.. If you use brasso you have to wash the barrel real well afterwards to get the brasso residue off.. otherwise it can actually damage your brass.... just giving you a heads up.

I made a polisher tool for this. You need to wash out real well and even break paint then squeegie and wash again to get it all out, to re 'season' the barrels. My nasty was pissy after I polished the bore for a bit.
Actually besides easier cleaning, I see no improvement doing this, cleanign out 10 year old patina did little for me, and I wont do it for 12 years next time.

Thanks for the heads up. I just got done polishing my 12" spiral vent (had to wait a day to let the swab I used dry after wasking it in the sink. I polished my 10" non-vented yesterday.

After reading your post I ran both barrels under hot water in the bathtub for a minute or two and then I squeegee'd and swabbed the bore. Will that be sufficient to get the residue off?

Will my non-vented barrel that I polished yesterday be alright?

should be, hit them with isopropol and a rubber squuegie to scrape them clean and sqeaky a couple times. I had flyers after my first cleaning, then did it again after busting some junk paint ans she was happier. I think I like the crud better, less rollouts in 10 year old oxidized barrels.
