Polishing Brass Barrels

I noticed the bores of a couple of my Blazer barrels are looking mighty oxidized and with Castle coming up this weekend I want to give them a quick polish to make them shine. I know i'm going to need a can of Brasso to do the job, but what else do I use to polish it? Any good techniques?

Brasso and a rag will have it golden-shiny for you in no time flat. I really don't think you need anything else. Just slap the liquid on there, let it turn green and dry a bit and polish it off. You shouldn't need anything else.

i like Nevr-Dull myself. wrap some around a wooden dowel and put the dowel rod in a drill and go to town with it. then take a clean barrel sock or something and buff it up and she'll shine. Nevr-Dull leaves a slick finish too.

Would a shotgun swab work? I want to polish up the dingy BOA barrel on my Fox.

Curt has it!

Get a 12 gauge shotgun swab(the cotton kind) and chuck it in a drill, apply your polish of choice and run it down a few times while spinning. Easy and fast.

Might want to hook it to a section of cleaning rod unless you have a very short barrel!!!!! When it gets kinda flat and gets sloppy in the bore I use yarn to wrap around the swab to make it fatter!!! Works Great!!

I bought a $4 can of brasso from the hardware store today and made them shine! I just used an old Dye Squeegee (which has a very fat swab on it that hugs the bore pretty tight) and ran it through the barrel a few times and it looks great.

For those who can't find it at you local sporting goods store, Brownells has them for $2.04, Midway USA is cheaper, but they're out of stock.

I actually almost did, but didn't think anybody would 'get it'.
