Could the next step be "reverse cheating?"
Somehow interfere with the opposing teams markers?
Ramp someone out of the tourney, or possibly decrease marker performance?

More and more, the thought of LTP (limited technology paintball) leagues and tourneys just keeps getting stronger.

Wow. What ever happend to mechanical things, it seems most of the "newer" stuff all has to be plastic, runs on batteries or both... we miss metal creations..

You can use the same 2.4 GHz antennas used for wifi with bluetooth as they run in the same unlicensed band. Do a google search for "bluetooth rifle", they used a common yagi antenna to get bluetooth signals over a mile away.

Edit: Some soldering is usually required.

2.4 video jammers have been available through spy/security outlets for some time. Add an amplifier and you can mess wifi crap up bigtime.

/work for a wireless company

Great website for getting those antenna's, I personally have one in my house for my wireless connection.

And in theroy it would be very easy for someone to do what they are talking about, with a little electronics experience and software experience. But i agree with what was said earlier how lazy can some people be. I personally like my all mech guns, to me it seems like more sport to pull a mech trigger then to "click a mouse", but dont' get me wrong, either gun you use require a great deal of skill to play the game. i just like my mech guns a little more.

This form of cheating will never last. As soon as it become public knowledge, you'll have twice as many people trying to screw you over then help you.

You guys are looking for laptops but what about Black Berries? They run both bluetooth and internet capable. The Angels out there have been getting tune ups on palm pilots for like 4-5 years. Whats to stop someone from making it bluetooth capable. I can see it happening for sure.

So the new "ups" will be proxy servers, firewalls, and higher data transfer rates?

What they should do is add a built in tourney device that measures BPS and FPS and automatically shuts down your marker for a minute or two every time it breaks the rules.
