PC boards? like motherboards for computers? PCI cards? or do you mean like custom electronic boards? i don't know if there is such a thing as "good" anything with a limited run tends to have troubles from time to time. the silk-screening just gives us all sorts of trouble at work, its a PITA to build up a board when the reference designators are all blurred to the point you can't read them, i would say look for some place local and ask if they'll make you some prototypes. depending on what you're doing with it there may already be some built up prototyping modules that you can plug a breadboard into. some more info could help... |

so you're going for a small profile? most board manufacturers just use a formula based on the surface area x the number of layers in the board. what is your level of electronics experience? a tightly packed surface mounted board is not a trivial job for the uninitiated. what program are you using to lay the board out in? would it not be a better option to reprogram a morlock or something else? i don't see the gain in redesigning a whole new board when there are adaptable existing options already floating around. unless you're planning on doing a butt load of them i think you're reach a cost prohibitive mark rather quickly. if you're just playing around you might try a small FPGA prototyping module like what Nu Horizons has to offer: http://www.nuhorizons.com/developmenttools/index.asp |
