The DRV Revolver

I'm not sure if I'm going to call it a DRV ( I think thisissparta called it that somewhere) or the DRG. I like simple names lol. Graf_Orlock asked for a new thread so that people didn't have to sift through 50+ pages of discussion on grips.

This is where I will post any new developements and prototype photos.Down to the nitty gritty

The look today:

What it is:

-68 Cal
-Single action
-5 shot cylinders
-Replaceable clyinders
-Optional 10 rnd springfeed attachment
-12 gram dropout in the grip ( 1/2 turn is the target)
-Replaceble grips ( not standard pistol grips but you can customize them)
-Removeable barrel
-Spring feeds can be sized to your liking, or replaced with a plug

Estimated price $650. The design isn''t complete yet, but thats a reasonable estimate. Since I have not completed the design I have not been able to get pricing on manufacture. Most of it will en up being produced outside since I do not have CNC capability. However I could get a huge surprise, or simplify this greatly and lower that price a long ways. You never know.

I was working on the barrel block and have changed it a bit since the last time I posted an image. I think the cylinders will be pop out over swing out. The axle will slide out the front enough to pull the cylinder out of the side. There isn't much room between the barrel and center of cylinder for a sturdy swing out. I like sturdy

The form factor for the grip is sort of an in between of all the types posted in the other thread. Its loosely based on a contender frame. It can be covered with other grip shapes to customize to you liking. I don't know if I will be happy with the shape, so I will be cutting a demo out of some wood to check the handling of the frame. It would suck to CNC them and have them be uncomfortable.

For a scale reference, thats a 10" Barrel on there.

Looks good. The contender/schofield cross is a pretty good fit for the feel we were trying for, and the flush mounted plate on the bottom looks good in practice. Safe to say I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to throw money at this thing.

One thing I don't recall from the other thread was if there'd been a decision to have a sort of 'on/off' for the spring feed, so you can have it waiting in the wings until you see you'll need a string of 10 shots rather than have it used up on your first cylinder ..

Well you could pull it back and latch it in the reloading postition like a palmers spring feed. Might be able to put a pin in to keep the balls back. I'm more of a use it now kind of guy than a do extra work to save it for later kind lol.

w00t. I like the name.

I may very well have to get one now. Especially if that 'suddenly the price drops!' thing happens.

Oh, I forgot to ask, will there be some form of iron sights on this beast?
