thank god for knowing how stuff is filled properly (friends of mine scuba dive and showed me how to slow fill a tank) and my old field (since closed down as the former owner couldn't afford it) had self fill stations that COULD NOT slam fill no matter what you did they were designed so that when you hooked up your tank and pushed the button it took about 90 seconds to fill (for tourneys they had an air truck that could do it in 40 seconds per player but the tanks got hotter) I never once had a problem standing there for the 1.5 minutes and knowing that my tank was slowly filling to it's proper pressure not flash filling to cause any danger. my local shop now does fills of their new tanks in a way I feel minimizes the danger they first fill them to 2500psi (for the steel bottles) they are filling off of scuba tanks not a compressor and then they say to a player ok just go sit down on the couch (leather couch in store) and wait about 3-4 minutes (tank cools down noticeably) they then top it off to 3000. tanks are a little warm first but they do that due to the fact that their fill stations as I said are running off scuba tanks so try to get most of the fill done once than cool off so you're not wasting any excess (that they pay for)

Fill nipples are always leaky. its like every other time I fill that the nipple hisses a bit, BUT ITS SO COMMON AND THERE IS AN EASY FIX that requires NO OIL. Just hook the tank back up and pressurize it for just a sec and disconnect it, and it stops.

I am so scepticle of people who fill tanks, And self serve fill stations.

GOOD INFORMATION!

PLEASE don't take my microline away!

Seriously, though. A lot of the stores that I go into, and Wal-Mart also, should take just a little initiative toward making their customers aware of the safety issues associated with the equipment they sell. Granted, not all of them are this way.

It seems to me that most salespersons merely assume that the customer already knows what they want, and already know everything about it that they need to.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the ONLY piece of paintball equipment you can't buy at Wal-Mart is a chronograph. Out of everything you need to play, this one item will keep you as injury-free almost as much as the goggles (and cups).

Players also need to actually READ the manuals once in a while, too. That's what they're there for.

I'm not ranting, it's just that with a little more precaution, incidents like this should occur a lot less often.
