How do you get clotheslined by a fence?

The field took a quick dip into a ditch right where I was, and I was unaware of the barbed wire.... The people who own the property (and play PB) and the animals are free to roam the paintball field as well as the normal farm(ish) area. They own all sorts of animals, but in this part of the field (very back into the woods, edge of a swamp....) there is a ditch and only one wire. It just happens to be unmarked and neck height.

All in all, ripped my mask off, dropped me, left me with a nice little scar. Went home, had a laugh about it, talked to aunt (nurse) and apparently an inch lower and it probably would have done some serious damage (adams apple?).

The field is now marked with caution tape all around the wire area's as well as new players to the field getting tours before they play it.

TL;DR: I find a way.

I cut mine off (all new flex's and spectras have included them for a very long time) however I am starting to wish I didn't. When I run really hard or have to move awkwardly my mask has moved more than I would like it to and I know how to wear it properly. An over the head strap and a chin strap would actually make it easier to play hard in some situations and I think if I was playing seriously I would look into making my mask stay put a little bit better.

Honestly despite the fact that paintball fashion prohibits chin straps and more functional goggle staps, I wouldn't rule them out.

I always wear mine. Had a fight with a tree branch one day and learned better safe than blind.

I cut mine off. Any issues are solved by double strapping.

I hadn't thought about it before, but anyone simply strapping a mask to their head without using a hat or headband to better secure it shouldn't be complaining, unless (maybe) you happen to be fully bald.
