I am assuming that the easiest solution for a board would be to send it to damon from SD and have him take care of it? I am interested.

I had started working with Damon on one a while ago and got backed up on some other projects and ran out of material. We believe that the closed bolt UTB may work with the relay mod on a MAC33, but it hasn't been tested. He modified some code for the eye logic on one that would directly trip a MAC33 (only one of the 2 outputs will fire a 33 under pressure, and it is the wrong one on a closed bolt board without a relay mod), but the eyes actually delayed the firing cycle when it detected a ball. I was going to send him one of the kits so we didn't have to go back and forth with test boards, but never did. I should probably send him one of these...

I would be very interested in a vibe kit, isn't that the same as XE? I had a mech vibe in the works for months now and this would probably be the motivation i need to finish it up... haha.

Actually, would this kit work on a lucky assembly? not the 5.1, the firing can they made.

Yes, Vibe internals are the same as the XE. Material arrived for that version this week, hoping to get those at least part way finished this weekend. I've never seen a Lucky firing can, but possibly. It should work fine with any firing can that is the same size as a SP can. The only aftermarket version that I have on hand to verify fit against is a NDZ can (or what I was sold as an NDZ can, but the back end is hex on it, not round like most NDZ cans that I've seen). We can try it with that if you want, and if it doesn't work I can do a straight swap for the XE kit when they are ready. |

Ok, thanks. Any commentary on the fabco vs the clippard 3-ways? I've never seen the fabco mentioned for ion conversions, although it seems to be the current trend in pneumag conversion kits based on what i've seen on automags... (I know a while ago clippard held that position, just wondering if you had any input.)

The valve for a mechanical Ion - whether this kit or for a regular mechanical Ion - needs to be a normally open valve. The Fabco MSV-2 which is so popular for pneumag conversions is only available as normally closed, so it will not work properly. As far as I can tell, Fabco does not make a miniature normally open valve similar to the SMAV-3. I have a few designs for trigger valves that I'll be testing out soon, but as of now the only really popular options are modifying a cocker 4-way by plugging one of the output ports, or using an SMAV-3. Pneumadyne makes a few tiny 3-way valves that should work fine as well, but I'm not aware of many (if any) being used in any.

Video from someone on PBN that bought one of the closed bolt conversion kits. He said he is running a touch over 100 psi with a good paint fit and about 135 with a loose fit. The good fit should come out to approximately 2,200 shots per tank. He's running mechanical with no QEV. Moved the video to youtube due to linking problems with photobucket.
