i just got back from the field, didnt get to actually play cause i left my mask as home (cause im awesome) but i borrowed a mask and chronoed a few guns. the ion is rather consistent. i figure that it was hissing at me because the pressure was a bit high, it was shooting around 345ish when i started out, now it is firing around +-285fps. my feed issues with my loader stem from the paint, it doesnt like cheap paint, lol. shot a full load through it (about 120 rounds) with only a couple misfeeds. only problem with being mech is that htere are no eyes to keep it from chopping when it doesnt load properly. i will get some pics of the gun when i unload my car. |

Sadly no real way around that in an Ion - at the moment.... I'm working on a new bolt design that will work in the mechanical Ions that will have a 2 stage bolt motion similar to the LVL-X in a mag. At 180psi, the bolt should only have around 3 pounds of force for the first half of the bolt cycle. You can pinch some rather brittle paint at 3 pounds... I'll be building the prototypes for the bolt in the next week hopefully and will know more shortly after. The 2 tail o-rings do make for a very consistent gun provided you have a good regulator feeding it. Which the stock Ion regulator is actually a spectacular reg. Very under appreciated by a lot of people. |

The board/hose area of the SP8 is identical to the Ion so yes, it should work just fine...

I think it might fit, but I'm not 100% on that. Like PistolRogue said - it takes the same board arrangement. But the inside of the frame, in a few spots at least, is milled completely differently. Deathwish may be able to get a more solid answer on it than I can as I've never handled an SP8. |
