We stopped carrying DP products because of the QC issues and lack of support from the company with the G5. I wish they would keep better track of their tolerances and put the damn orings back on the bolt like the g3's

update -

Still looking to get the backcaps made..

G5 Testing - While my engine seems to work fine in the G5, our tester is having issues with his. At first glance, it seems as though it might be coming down to tiny tolerance differences between markers. This is why we wanted to verify before simply saying it works for all G5's, etc, as opposed to my video which clearly shows it working 100% in mine.

G4 Testing -> I would like to test it just a bit more in light of the G5 issues. While I have had zero issues with mine whatsoever and it should not have the issues that we are seeing with the G5 due to the "shredders", I want to see if we can find any variation due to the differing tolerances in the markers themselves.

G3 Testing -> I need to put together a G3 kit to send to the tester. I've been a bit swamped with other things going on, but will be verifying it works this weekend prior to shipment.

Current Status:

Per Jonathan, the bolt shouldn't work in my G5. O_o
Essentially, we're riding on the very tiniest of dimension differences which is why mine works. We're still trying to figure out what course of action to take on the G5 end.

I will be doing final testing of the G4 engine this weekend.
I will also be doing my first actual testing of the G3 engine since we received the shipment. After this testing, an engine will be send to a tester for verification.

We had a shop fall through on the backcaps, but were recommended to use another shop. This is the main issue that has been ongoing for a while. I will be contacting the other shop shortly to get an NDA signed and a quote for the backcaps.

If they have similar lead times, etc, we're looking at another 6 weeks from when they take our cash and start. It's optimistic at this point as we've been going from shop to shop to shop. Hell... we were going to go with places that wanted 6x+ what the parts originally cost us and they still kinda wandered off and stopped talking to us.

Anyhow.. we're here. I promise. Any questions - PM or post!

A few.

I've had my health go back and forth and my mother had some stuff happen too, so I've been in and out of usefulness.
Jonathan had some stuff going on as well.

The site we use to get quotes wont let us get more quotes right now since the chinese mfr who screwed us is causing trouble. I've fighting it with 80+ emails, pictures, etc.

Multiple shops disappeared after I spoke with them for quotes. These are people local to my university and others around the area. Thus, we need to get the quotes up on mfg.com for overseas quotes.

It's a pain.. but!

We know that the G4/G5 engine works great. I still need time on the G3 engine. The G4/G5 needs some oring adjustments, but we have a tester who has been using it for quite some time and it's all good.

Lots of stuff happening.. but yeah..

Does that mean the G4/G5 engine is G5 ready? Last I heard the G5s weren't working universally with it.

Sad to hear this, as I'm waiting on a G3 version. Hope all is well regarding your health and that of your family. Those priorities are first!

Yeah, the rest of my G3 build is complete, it just needs this shoddy techt engine replaced with this solid one!

The only update I have is that a backcap is with a good individual who is trying to help us salvage the caps so that they meet our standards and we do not lose a ton of cash. This individual is also helping us source more caps through his contacts in the machining industry.

In regards to the operational issues, it really comes down to minor seals.
It works. We know they work. We've tested them. It looks like it may come down to an oring trial upon installation due to the tolerances of the marker bodies. There really isnt anything else we can do at this point. If we wish to work around that, it means we'd have to have an entire new run of parts. It is mypersonal opinion that trying one or two different size orings is preferable and will allow the user to tailor fit the engine to their marker.

Yeah, DP's poor tolerancing, lack of concentric consistency, and overall poor build quality is what keeps them in the budget category. I have no issue with trying a few different o-rings to make these work.
