Yes the airline does go through the grip frame.

Isn't there an external velocity adjuster? What do you use the velocity adjustment rod for?

No external. It is similar to the Phantom only the adjustment rod goes through a small hole in the bottom of the pump handle into the body and puts more pressure or less pressure on the main spring.
