5-MINUTE HACK - 12-gram loop improvement

I've owned several pieces of gear that have elastic 12-gram loops.

Invariably, I'll run flat out, stop and discover I've lost one or more 12-grams as they bounced out of the loops.

I got this idea from looking at my mask strap which is elastic and has a silicone bead around it to keep it stuck in place.

I tried a small "hack" on my latest 12-gram holder to help prevent this: clear RTV silicone.

Take a dab and rub it in to the inside of the elastic loop, making sure it works in to the material. Then, take a bit more and build up a thin layer of it on the surface; the bit you worked in to the fabric will act as an anchor. Allow a day to fully cure.

I'll give a full field report of this soon but I have high hopes this will keep the 12-grams well stuck in place, even when I bump them with my wrist while running.

E-6000/Goop will work also. If you use Silicone I'd stick with the aquarium grade stuff, not Silicone-II, which doesn't seem to last.

CJ,,,

I also got tired of trying to reach for a 12 gram that wasn't there because it fell out and I went to using a 12ga 12 count shotgun shell pouch from BDS Tactical... You probably remember my Wiskey2Four review thread but I never went into my 12 gram holder...

Here's the pics ( of the 12 gram pouch by itself )

Pic of it mounted on my Kit ( The DuckSlide now belongs to TheYoda,,, but I still use this Kit for my '08 Grey Ghost )

I wish you luck in using the silicone but if you want to good 12 gram holder that takes up a small bit of space I would suggest a BDS Tactical 12ga shotgun shell pouch : BDS Tactical Shot Gun Shell Pouch

Take It Easy Bro

Nice rig WK2!

I've played with the modified loops a couple of times now (full days of hard paintball).

12-grams are well and truly STUCK in the loops until you want them out. This is a win in my book.
