Splattttt, I'm sure I can trick my mother into sewing up your pants for you. The turn around can be slow but it will get done. The size difference between us might raise a little suspicion but she is easily tricked.

Here are some pics of my new and improved BDUs

Old knee showing previous patch.

New knees with 1680d cordura patches

Pocket inside pants to hold 3/4" neoprene pads

Twin swab pockets on back of pants

Pocket holding a PBMafia swab

I'm very happy with how they came out and they should last me another 10yrs. The cordura did make the pants heavy but since I usually move at a snails pace it won't slow me down.

My overall cost for this was somewhere around $45.
$20 for the pants about 15yrs ago from Army Navy surplus store
$10 for 4sq feet of 3/4" neoprene
$15 for 10sq feet of 1680d cordura
a hug for my mom.

I was joking about having them done for me. I have a mom (Krrisy)
thanks though.

Tried them out any yet? Curious how they will hold up and if the neoprene will make a noticeable difference in sliding/kneeling etc...

The neoprene is great for sliding and kneeling. I took several hard knee slides and couldn't feel it. I do have to slightly modif the foam so it isn't flat. I think I'm going to cut 2 V shaped grooves in each pad then either sew or glue them together. That way it is kind of 3 sided instead of flat. The pants look weird now because the pad basically sits flatt unless you really bend it.

I'll post up more pictures after the mod to the pads.

That would probably work good and be more flexible. The 3/4" is really overkill, I would probably go 1/2" next time.
