Kevlar + BDUs = Paintball pants?

Ok so my BDU pants keep ripping at the knee from sliding in woodsball, I want to put some kevlar over the knees but I know nothing about kevlar thickness etc. Anyone have any ideas as to what thickness or type I should get?

someone was just opsting about this... should be able to find it with advanced search.

You can also try 1000d Cordura (try rockywoods fabric) It makes a fantastic knee, as on some of the DBD pants.

Is there a durability difference between the coated and uncoated.

not really, no.

The coating is on the backside, unless it is the heavy rubberized PVC coating, then yes... that stuff is tougher to tear RIGHT through.

Thanks for the info and the website. I'm going to order some 1000D codura in woodland for some extra knee protection.

While I'm going to have my mom slaving away behind the sewing machine for me. What is a good padding material for the knees. I was thinking maybe have her make a pocket on the inside that I can slide a piece of foam yoga mat into. But I think I would prefer something that is permanently in there.

you can get foam at a fabric store, 1/2 inch foam would be GREAT! It swes really well too.

Looking forward to pics!

I was the one asking about kevlar. I have warm weather BDUs with Kevalr knee patches I paid a tailor to sew on. The Kevlar can be found on eBay for $7 for a pair scrap pieces.

Kevlar's a cool idea but it's not a permanent solution. It'll break down eventually with washing and getting sweaty, etc... That's why kevlar vests have expiry dates.
