I was thinking more like a sten, like this, so the mag would actually be out the side. but idk if that would work
I'm not a huge fan of the sten look, but it is workable I think. I'll lay it out to see if the rounds will clear the frame.

I thought about it a bit yesterday a bit after I layed it out. But I liked it less than the straight out sten look.

That's a 9mm Calico. There are similar magazines like that on the pp-19 "Bison".
Again, I don't know if it's possible. It does keep the rounds oriented forward the entire time though.
I'm trying to avoid having to design and manufacture new parts. Anything I can use off the shelf I will to try and keep costs reasonable.

I'll never make it. Dukie, I'll send you some igs files if you want to play with them.
I saw that yesterday on a GIS. Its not really the direction I was looking to go. I wanted to avoid a custom bolt, body etc if at all possible. I like the idea, its just not where I want to go. For me, off the shelf parts that I can modify are more suited.

It looks all right in sten format/side mag. It will take a little joggering to get the rounds up over the edge of the frame I think. The lower inside surface of the mag sites 1/32" below the edge of the frame ( stock phantom as well). That doesn't mean the round will, but it could. A little ramp might sort it out.

Can't holster it though, thats a given.

What on earth holds TPX mags in the magwell? I just borrowed one yesterday from the local store to take measurements. I didn't notice what it was and to be honest I wasn't really looking for it.

What retracts the little ball latch at the top? is it connected to the follower release?

I couldn't just buy a set of mags, he didn't have any but the ones that were in his last tpx kit.

Can you put the mag on the other side of the phantom? It won't get in the way of pumping will it?

Edit: No it wouldn't, I just wasn't thinking strait...

Unfortunately on both a stock phantom frame and the dsp frame there is very little material on that side due to the pump arm slot. No good place for mounting into the frame.

The mag release button engages with a slot on the port side of the mag about an inch below the top.

The ball latch is connected to the follower release - there's a little nubbin that pushes into the slot on the rear of the top of the magazine. It's a nifty little lever mechanism that's a pain in the *** to clean and reassemble. I feel really sorry for the people who have to actually build the magazines in the Tippmann factory.
