Will a Proto Matrix run HP & LP?

Buddy of mine has a Proto Matrix but has NO CLUE on the type of tank needed.
I know the manual says input pressure should not exceed 850 psi, but before I assumed that HP was safe I wanted to ask

reg should be a hyper 2, which can take HP so i would go with that.

LP tanks are a waste of money. The entire point of the HPR is to reduce the pressure form the tank in the first place.
