| Grand Poobah | Weird Blinking lights on PMR UL frame?
I'm really confused, read through the official and unofficial manual and it's not mentioned in either... Battery was dead in the PMR, so I changed it and changed the mode from PSP to Semi auto while I had it open. Took it out to the field and Beth started complaining that it was turning off randomly by itself. After the game I took it out and it shot just fine. Very next game the EXACT same thing happened (to her). So I pick up the phantom and she plays with my Viking to finish out the day (she hates the viking because "it's so heavy" lol). Anyway, we get home and I clean it and turn it on (no air, no hopper). Eyes show the breach is empty, so I put my finger in to trigger the eyes and fire, it shoots 2 or 3 times and then all of the sudden the lights blink through all the colors then the marker turns off. It is NOT in configuration mode. (wouldn't fire if it was anyway, but I figured it was worth mentioning ). The ONLY thing that has been changed since the last time we played with it was the battery and the firing mode.Setup of PMR: Stock 09 UL PMR Stock UL Board Magna RF transmitter (in grip) Brand new battery Cliffnotes: Marker stops working in the middle of play, Try to diagnose: no air no paint, finger in breach, fires a couple times, cycles through the blinking lights and turns off. No friggin clue. Help! |

Hmm... Last time a problem similar to this happened, not the whole shutting off thing but works and doesnt work, my friend and I trouble shot the entire DM5 and it turns out the electrical relay in the solenoid was bad and intermittently chose to work. Hopefully the Dip switches are 1 up 2 down so abs is on. The second idea since i have never use the RF chip is that it is some how short circuiting the board from installation. ( not knocking your handyman skills) The eyes may be dirty (if not checked already), there may be a pinched battery wire, solenoid wire, which is causing the the shut off and random stoppage of working. they may have come unattached. Other than those ideas I cannot think of anything else right now. If you look over those things and still have a problem give a call to Dye/Proto and talk to their techs, very friendly people, but make sure you tell them what you have already done to trouble shoot the problem so they dont waste time tell you the same things over again. Good Luck

Thanks for the post bud! Think it might have been a combo of a few things: First off I cleaned it, eyes did have some buildup on them, then the I found that the solonoid cable had part of it's wire exposed, so I wraped it up, finally I think the battery didn't have a very good connection (on the + side) so I bent down the pins from the board for better contact. re-lubed, put it back together and it's running like a champ! As for the RF board, I wraped it in Electrical tape when I put it in to avoid any possiblity of shorting that was one of my first concerns.Anyway, thank you for the input! |
