Sounds like Oakland CA, I was told that i can get a job there as a Medic but the first day of work they issue you a vest. No thank you.

That's the same as the one I wear. I like the Zero-G line. Safariland (aka Armor Holdings) has pretty good customer support too. I sent them an email inquiry about new straps, and they just sent me some without any payment on my behalf or silly forms. Quite an unexpected, but pleasant experience compared to some other suppliers out there.

I worked in Greenville, SC, and there is now a selection of vests hanging in each station. The station vests are an over the shirt type and are only IIA vests.

I wanted my own and since the primary weapon's the bangers were carrying were 9mm, .357 and 12ga, I wanted something that would stop one.

The vests also come in handy if you get in a fist fight. There is nothing like the crunch of bone when someone punches a steel shock plate.
