OK, is the Ego 8 actually better than a 9 or 10 or is it just a better deal at the moment? i.e. if you found an 8 and a 9/10 in about the same condition for the same price would you still take an 8? or is it just that it isn't really worth the price difference to get a 9 or 10? |

While the Ego8 may be considered the better model of past Egos, here's a word of advice - stock up on spare QEV diaphragms while you can, because these small o-ring-like parts wear down easily and should be changed once per season. Finding these might be a challenge, as PE doesn't sell them anymore, but there are still a few online stores that have them. I stocked up on 6 spares just in case. Either that, or find an Ego7 that has the no-QEV mod done.

thanks I actually decided to try out a spoole after all. One of my friends has a DM10 and he let me borrow that, and I was able to find a DM9 with rotor pretty cheaply with his help. Since it's pretty much the same gun as the DM10 and already had the ironmen trigger I'll try that. Previously I had tried shooting my other friends Ego10 and I was pretty happy with that, but I like the feel of the DM a little more, but the looks of the Ego. I decided that function and feel will come over looks. Thanks for your help. Maybe I'll get a used Ego next.

| 'Hooked' on CCM! | The Ego9 was the first Ego without a QEV, thanks to a new direct mount solenoid. I believe subsequent models followed suit, so anything 2009 and onwards shouldn't have a QEV. The Ego7 can be modified via a simple mod to remove the QEV from the system: EGO7 No QEV mod - Planet Eclipse Operator Group a paintball forum for the Planet Eclipse Marker Owner.

Wow, I didn't know PE stopped selling those diagrams. May stock up on some when I get a chance to order in the near future. No rush though, I'm sure there are stockpiles somewhere......

That said i love my ego 8, which i would shoot over an etek 3 any day. I happen to own a dm7 as well so i can see where your coming from on the feel of the marker. Personally my ego gets the nod on the airball field over the dm7, simply because it is a faster gun and more efficient, if i was a front player i might opt for the dm, but really i depends on how im feeling.
