Slight ego problem

I was futzing around with some old paint in my ego and it blew up a ball. No big deal I thought until I tried to get the eye cover screws off. They wouldn't budge, I mean to the point I was worried they were going to strip out. So anybody know a good trick? My normal non-electro style would be to hammer in a torx head socket and take it out but with electronics I'm hesitant, so if you have any ideas post up please.

Try and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. That might clear out some of the paint without harming the eyes.

Odd that they would be in so tight unless the previous owner loctited them in....There really isn't a whole lot to worry about in an electro that you wouldn't worry about in a mech. I doubt you could harm the eyes themselves with the vibration of tapping in a torx bit. If you're really worried you could pull the board or take of the grip frame before you start working on it. I guess the solenoid may be a source of concern as well if you're really pounding it but those are also pretty easy to remove. I guess if it was me I'd strip it down to bare minimums and work on the cover screws from there.

Well a T-10 and a finish hammer and she's fine. Now all I need is a screw set.
Thanks Guys

Next time if you have an automatic center punch git it a try one or two shock waves should release the stuck screws with out damage to the heads.

A little oil or grease on the screw where it contacts the aluminum will keep it from sticking the next time. Dissimilar metals can cause a slight bit of corrosion to form rather quickly...

I did get ahold of Bill and he hooked me up with a full set, I bought a new set of grips too since mine were thrashed. I'll toss a little lube before instalation.
