what should I set my dwell to? and does the number of blinks on the dwell settings directly corospond to the actual dwell setting, or is it some wierd proportion. The only reason I ask is because the manual says it's default set on 38, but it only blinks 18 times.

The manual is wrong. Stock dwell is 28 blinks. 18 blinks is ok, if you can get the velocity set using the back cap adjuster, and the pressure is below 200. I would go for 160-180 psi input pressure as a starting point with the stock bolt and spring.

The kick is directly related to the movement of the bolt. If you can find one, the original New Designz Tru-Flo bolt is much lighter than the stock bolt, and works well with the stock spring. Should be about $35. The next option would be the Tru-Flo V2 bolt and spring kit. You could start with the red spring and 140 psi. I don't know the MrT bolt, however the delrin version looks promising. They have a new upgrade policy in place, which makes me think there may be a new single o-ring version in the works.
