OXP Website Thread!

I'll be creating a new website for OXP. Whether it gets used or not will be up to Scotty. Although the website will have professional quality and will hopefully be better than the current. If you don't believe me then I can link you the other projects made by students from the previous year

Anyways, I'll be using this thread to upload different things I will make for the website such as background, font styles, logos, images, etc. As well as mulitple ideas for the site.

My goal is to make this website that would be almost as nice as Commando's : Commando Paintball - Paintball Field, Ottawa, ON

So I'll be repeatedly posting in here and would LOVE any advice given to me or help in creating this website! :)

I'll be creating a background and then placing a 20 % opaque rectangle on top of it that will have the website designed on. Basically it'll create nice edges on the side.

So I'll need some ideas on the background:

Miltary Army Camo?
Paintball Splatter?
Woods?
Solid Colors?

Let me know what you think!

I'm also working on a new logo for the field; one that isn't plain and has two toy soldiers on the side. Ideas I need for that are:

Color Scheme -- Preferrably matching the background -- Camo'ish colors?
Font -- More harsh and 'badass' (e.g. stencil) or More smooth and stylish like
this: http://www.eyetactical.com/images/logo_pbl_store.gif
Other -- Paintball Splatter? I was thinking of either pb splatter or a broken shell forming the 'X' for X-treme.

Thanks <3

Here is a potential background that took that I made. You'll only really see the edges. But let me know what you think! :)

Advice (from a professional web designer)...

Go with neutral backgrounds and NOT black as it's hard on the eyes and requires larger fonts.

Try beige or mild olive-grey as they're quasi "natural" looking.
Text should be clean, 10-point Calibri or Arial.

All true, but don't forget I'm placing a 90% opaque rectangle on top of the background. Basically so that viewers with wider monitors will have something nice on the side and people with smaller monitors still view everything.

I'll upload an example next Tech class.

As for the field picture I'll try that too and upload it as an example for people to compare.

New Background Styles coming in :)

The middle section will have the website on it, which will be a solid color. I'll be uploading the ones I make and you guys can pick! :)

Second one is nicer, but it looks so generic.
