I think both the DWM and the Spy thing are both recipes for injury. I'm sure as hell the dude who did the Spy thing would be upset if I was shooting full auto 30BPS out of my Luxe at the back of his head, same with the dead man walk. I'd have to shoot every player who is out to ensure they aren't DMW...

I'm kind of sorry that these two incidents have tainted an otherwise fun game for everyone. I was fortunate enough not to have to deal with either these incidents directly and spent a lot of time having great shootouts with people in the woods.

In a way, I'm grateful for the DMW issue because it's given me a chance to discuss sportsmanship with my kids. While DMW was legal within the scenario rules, it takes advantage of the good sportsmanship of other players. Taking advantage of other players good sportsmanship through misleading actions will always be poor sportsmanship in my opinion.

This thread is also a great example of how people respond to poor sportsmanship. Reading through the comments, I wouldn't want to play with a number of people who respond by escalating the situation rather than working to adjust the rules to make the game play more fun for everyone.

The best solution is to work with the organizer and refs to make sure the rules encourage safe and fun play. The comments that I agree with from the thread are to avoid playing in games where safety and fun are overlooked by the people organizing the event.

Again, the pump/pistol game on Friday was some of the most fun I've had playing paintball to date. I will show up again next year for CC4 in the anticipation of another round of great game play like that. The rest of the weekend appears to have been tainted by a few negative incidents but I still got my money's worth from the whole thing.

Im worried that my first response was maybe misunderstood. I was using a sarcastic response to demonstrate how silly the concepts were. I would never shoot at someone who I believe is an eliminated player. I was hoping to illustrate the safety implications of shooting at people who would be not in the game.

I found the comments in this thread so far to be a bright spot in a very dark topic (which is very nice to see)

To be frank and candid - seeing him selling it, laughing it off after the guy got upset, reading the description he wrote on sportsmanship as it related to DMW, instructing others - it just didnt sit well with me. Like Ive said previously, showing this to the whole paintball community...I don't understand one bit. Show footage of the game, great. But if this is the highlight of the game, I am glad I didnt go.

The important thing here is that he has a following and an important voice. Many will see this and will emulate the behaviour. Ive seen many videos where he talks about giving back to the sport (creating positive forums, helping out at the field, eliminate ramping). I just dont see how this video fits in with the values and ethics hes previously shown.

Mike seems like a nice guy, I enjoy watching most of his videos. I hope this is perceived as constructive criticism.
Agreed. He DMWd me in fact you can see me with the red headband at the end of his video. Viper was watching the entire thing. I pointed out to Viper that the ref pretty sure it was Vapor was walking just in front of Mike creating the illusion he was being escorted. And thankfully on tape he told the ref not to do that anymore as it made the dead man's walk appear to be aided by the reading crew. That was the only thing that really left a sour taste in my mouth this year. I flat out told Mike after that that if he ever tries that again against me that I'm lighting him up and aiming for the neck and the family jewels. Honestly was the most unsportsmanlike tactic I have ever witnessed. Basically given that apparently it's condoned in the rules I guess that means any players where I'm unsure are getting a shot placed on them and I'll sort it out later. If anyone asks why I'll explain to them why I had to shoot them to make sure.
