FS rounds casting burs

Bought a Hammer 7,my 1st experience with FS rounds
My 1st time shooting them I had some feeding issues, shortened the pump guide for bolt clearence and indexed the twist breech using a Freak insert seemed to fix this mostly
I noticed on the FS rounds alot of the fins had casting burs on them(to be expected for mass, cheap castings) and the front circles would hang up a bit on the mag round release
after "dressing' the rounds by sanding the from circles off and removing the fin burs I dry cycled the bolt with the barrel and detents removed, seemed to solve the problem
Is this a common problem with all FS compatible markers? Most of the FS i got were given to me by a fellow player who shoots a Tiberius,he had mentioned similar issues
Is there a shelf life for FS like paintballs?

I haven't experienced any issues at all with FS rounds, but I don't have a Hammer7 either. They've worked great out of all of my Tiberius guns and my SR1, no issues with burrs either. Out of several hundreds of them I've found one with a cracked fin but I didn't notice a change in how it performed after shooting it.

Bad batch maybe?

I have a T8.1 that I usually run paintballs out of, but I have gone through 200-300 rounds of first strikes with no problems at all

Hmm, your not the first person who mentioned the FS rounds we gave out had burs and didn't cycle well.

I wish I could something to make it up, but we don't have anymore. We gave everything we had away.

I don't know the exact shelf life, thought I read someone say 2+ years.

UV_Halo believes that after about a year, the polystyrene the shells are made of begins to stress fracture and then the paint starts to dry out, rendering it useless.

Oops misconstrue. I've noticed leakage in some but, not all rounds. About drying out and becoming useless, that was a rumor I've been passed.

As for the OP, I've not had any problems with rounds in my Tiberius. Then again, I'm not using an adjustable bore system, and my gun is a blow forward.

That being said, what sizes were your inserts? I ask because the casting seams are super thin and should shear off when placed against any significant load.

Depending on who's philosophy your following, you should be between .687 and .690 (which is my recommendation).

The casting flaws I see are typically fringes on the skirt trailing edge (sticking up between the fins) and the injection point on the nose (often differently sized and not perfectly centered) I've got no evidence of it negatively affecting flight though.

Got a new case, seems my "donated" rounds were to blame, new ones seem much better, definately cycle without issues
