Mr5 Project....An ECAP project.

So I picked up one of these for an idea I had. Local field made general kills massive points if hit by first strike.. Normally my main FS gun is a SR-1 but its some what clunky for what I am up against.

I know how the local teams play, I maybe able to get in and get that shot but it is going to be hard and likely will have to wait for a mistake or window to lay down several shots.... I needed a semi.

Well as many of you MCB'ers know..... The Big Old Skool prefers using wit over wallet, cleverness over capital,...... machining over money.

Enter the MR5.... a lovely cheap mag fed first strike semi. I already had some mags for them since I own a Hammer7 so I figured why not! At $200 I can't go to wrong after all it isn't going to be a paint slinger. I know there are things I dislike about it already.... mainly its light and mostly plastic and some what stubby.

Later on today I'll have some photos up of the new Stock, gas system and fancy muzzle break I am currently working on.

Mind you... I should have to pics tonight for it. But,it is truly a gun built with me in mind.

One major part of the build is moving the air source on to the back of the gun... I hate 13 3k's they cool down too quick so it will be a 45 45 and not strait out. The other oddity is that I am working on a thread on "rain cover" but just don't have the time to get it done for tomorrow so I made a Tactiloud for it.

I also solved the tight mag well issue with a quick hit of the file.

Can anyone really find some great reviews on these FS capable Spyders?? I have looked all over and have seen just a few but nothing spectacular. Sounds like they are pretty good for shooting FS, not so great for regular .68. Double feeds, etc.

Any test info would greatly be appreciated! Thanks

The drop is just a bandaid.... I needed an ASA to get it going for the week end, but ironically I ended up just using my SR1

Are you planning on running this with a tank as the stock or a tank off the grip?

BigOldSkool 04-10-2013 06:29 PM

WYSIWYG....

I was going to run it with a really highly angled asa off the stock adapter I machined.... but the whole project lost steam for now. Right now this air set up is comfortable and when I get a chance I make mess with it again.
