Help with chest press

I have hit a stopping block with my chest workout. I do dumbbell flat/incline/decline press and flyes and I am getting to the point where my forearms give out well before my actual chest muscles.

How do I build these up a bit more?

Thanks!

I always stuck with reverse barbell curls, wrist curls, and reverse wrist curls.

I've always done reverse dumbbell curls for my forearms, but then I have a very hard time with barbell curls of any type. I broke my arm when I was in high school and now my right arm is a couple inches shorter than my left and I find it twists at a different rate, especially with a reverse curl.

I should note, I can no longer do the reverse barbell exercises either due to disability. I still do wrist curls with both dumbbell and barbell though. If I want to do the reverse curl I have to use a cable machine due to range of motion issues. Something is better than nothing though.

How much weight are you doing that your forearms give out? I've never heard of this before, I don't even do forearm exercises and I can do decently high dumbbell weight.

I am only doing 2 x 55 lbs dumbbell press (3 sets of 6 or 4 sets of 5). I don't have a spotter, so maybe that is why. It is pretty consistently my left arm. It is the only exercise that causes this. It comes and goes, last week I don't recall having an issue. Maybe my arms are tired from my other workouts? Maybe I should space them out more? Come to think of it, I was doing a lot of pushups every day leading up to this.

Forearms giving out? Are you sure your form is correct? Dumbbell Bench Press

Yeah, pretty confident that I am using proper form.

I am going to put this thought on hold until after my next chest day. I think I could be overdoing myself in the days leading up to (and the day of) my chest workout by doing pushups.

I will return in a few days with a update. Thanks everyone!

That's what I thought too. I can do 120's for reps on incline presses and I'm pretty sure my forearms are weak since I don't work them out and I've never had any issues like you're describing.

Edit:

What are you working out the day before? Don't do triceps the day before you do chest or shoulders. Don't do legs before doing deadlifts etc. What does your weekly routine look like?
