i'd cut out the clifbar. that's what you eat before a marathon, and if you're not going to be really active there's no need for it, so it might end up hindering you.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I've been wondering about it. I'll definitely be cutting my intake and switching to a less 'energetic' granola-type bar for snackage.

Bodybuilding.com 12 week challenge

Give this a shot if you like hitting up the gym. It comes complete with meal plans and how much water intake you should be consuming daily. I lost 22 ibs at the end of it. I weighed 187 and finished at 165. I also did some road/treadmill work in the morning MWF and a quick 1.5 mi run before my workouts. Be sure to take it easy when you attempt 2 a days. Start it on your 2nd week so you don't burn out. G'luck.

For motivation and focus, ask yourself why your doing it and drill that into your head over and over again. For me, I wanted to be stronger, faster, and to look good. I'm also 5'8.

A "little" cheat meal is okay every two weeks on a Sunday. Like a slice of pizza. Just don't fall into relapse or all your hard work goes down the drain.

I've cut out all fast foods, soda, and beer. Every time I'm tempted and it's not a cheat day, I remind myself that I'm only cheating myself. Oatmeal taste good once you mix in chocolate Whey Protein. Lean Crunch by Kashi in SoyMilk is good as well.

Before I started the grueling challenge. A friend of mine and I ate and drank whatever we wanted for a week straight to get it out of our system. The week after that, we got down to business and hardly missed any of those foods and drinks.

I'll look more into that Mirad. From scanning over it, I may start work on the plan at the start of month 2, to be sure that I don't over extend myself.

I kinda floundered a bit last week due to hella stressful school stuff, but put in a short workout today. stat-biked just over 5.6 miles and burned about 175 cal. Not great, but not terrible. I got to taste that awesome feeling you get after a workout, and I think the bug has bitten me well. Tomorrow I'll do another brisk ride and some rowing to mix it up a bit.

remember what it took to burn those 175 calories next time you look at a 700 calorie burger.

No kidding! This first month has been slow going, but everything I tell myself to rationalize it feels like an excuse. Sure, school is stressful, but I should relieve that stress by taking a walk or some other physical activity. Yes, work wears me out and I often feel like sawing off my feet after a shift, but I can still do some situps or something. And yes, I am a poor college student and my family wouldn't know how to buy healthy if their lives depended on it (and frankly their lives DO depend on it, as well as mine), but there are ALWAYS healthy alternatives.

Blarg. I still have a few weeks to make some progress and I intend to do just that!

I recently have lost 31 lbs (im 6'4'' 209 now from 240)

Only thing I did is reduce calories in, sounds easy enough but I never let myself eat

more than 1500 calories during the week. (weekends vary)

Calorie deficit is definitely one of the tactics I intend to try.
